Three Cozy Coffee Shops
In Mason City, we take our coffee VERY seriously and hangouts even more so! We’re talking about cozy hangouts, great conversation, delicious food and incredible coffee drinks. Here are 3 favorite Mason City coffee shops:
Saturday morning coffee dates are my favorite – a little ‘treat yo’self”, you-time after a long week of work. This time is extra special to me because it gives me the opportunity to catch up with friends I don’t see often.
My favorite place to go is Beanzy’s in Downtown Mason City; the contemporary coffee house is welcoming and invites you in for conversation. You don’t ever have to worry about talking too loud or holding in laughter when chatting with friends. The staff is kind and great when asking for recommendations.
This past Saturday I wanted to splurge a little and shied away from my normal ‘boring’ black brewed coffee; the barista suggested I try their ‘True Turtle Latte’ and boy, was she right! Under the ‘Turtle’ toppings of caramel, chocolate and whip cream is a cup of velvety smooth espresso, mixed with whole steamed milk. My friend Stacy ordered her usual, the ‘Pancake Latte’, as she claims it tastes “JUST LIKE A PANCAKE”, and I have to admit, she wasn’t lying.
Stacy and I had a bit of a sweet tooth that morning and decided to try one of their homemade bars. I had the Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownie; Stacy ordered the Marshmallow Brownie. The Red Velvet Cheesecake was to die for – you can’t go wrong mixing two favorites! The brownie was thick, marbled with cheesecake filling and luscious red velvet. Stacy’s brownie was equally as tasty – a sandwich chocolate brownie with marshmallow filling in the center, topped with ganache- YUM! – Tessa
I know it’s a girl’s day when my daughter and I have time to treat ourselves to our favorite coffee spot in town, Cabin Coffee! It was a very quiet afternoon in there today, I suppose that’s because it was during the week in the midst of the afternoon, this was a rarity. Trust me, you won’t find this on a Saturday morning as Cabin Coffee is the busiest coffee shop in town. The peacefulness of the afternoon was great to enjoy our meal and conversation. The atmosphere is cozy and feels like home; the saddle chairs are always a draw, adding a twist of fun.
My go-to order is a Chai Tea with a chicken bacon croissant sandwich, which comes with chips and a pickle. My sandwich was delicious as well as my Chai. My daughter had a veggie bagel sandwich (a great meatless option) and a tall Mississippi Mud. She enjoyed it very much. In our opinion Cabin Coffee is the best coffee shop in town! – Carol
My go-to place to grab coffee, something to eat and take a break from my busy life is Jitters – I call this place my “groovy weekend spot.” With its eclectic feel, you can’t help but feel welcomed. The barista is always friendly and prices reasonable.
Jitters is always busy with lots of different people, some talking with friends, doing work and others reading. I think this is a great place to chat and catch up with friends. I would definitely recommend Jitters to others.
With the “warm” wintry temp, I tried a cold drink – the Aussie Gold & Café Royal with whipped cream on top. It was smooth and VERY DELICIOUS! The coffee flavor was not over powering which I appreciated. I had a piece of the banana bread that was very sweet, it didn’t even need frosting and tasted great!
