303 2nd St. SE. Mason City
This exhibition features ceramic artworks created by potter Dan Sorensen. Sorensen, a retired public school teacher, has been an active ceramicist since the 1960s. After his retirement in 2003 he was able to dedicate himself to creating pottery full time. Sorensen studied with fellow Iowa ceramic artist Dean Schwarz at Luther College in the 1960s. Schwarz suggested he study with Marguerite Wildenhain at the famed Pond Farm School in CA. These experiences, along with years of practice, have led to the creation of some innovative and beautiful ceramic artworks.
Dan Sorensen: Stone Cellar Pottery will be on display through Wednesday, October 28. Admission to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is free.
