Prairie School Architectural Tour

Discover why Mason City, Iowa is ranked by Condé Nast Traveler among “The World’s 20 Best Cities for Architecture Lovers” as you explore the Rock Crest-Rock Glen Historic District. The largest collection of Prairie-style homes surrounding a natural setting features architectural treasures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Burley Griffin, William Drummond, Francis Barry Byrne, and Curtis Besinger. The Prairie School Tour encompasses 14 blocks and Historical Tour is an additional 13 blocks. Prairie School Architectural Tours: Docent-led tours, provided by Wright on the Park, are offered Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9 AM (May 1-September 30). Tours begin at the Wright on the Park Gift Shop located at 17 S. Federal Avenue. The tour is 90 minutes and covers 1.3 miles over uneven terrain. As a health precaution, only a single booking of up to six persons is allowed at this time.
