Wright Virtual Visits online event series to feature Historic Park Inn
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On November 7, the final 2024 edition of the Wright Virtual Visits online event series will explore the architecture of the Historic Park Inn Hotel in Mason City, Iowa. It is the only extant hotel by Frank Lloyd Wright, designed in 1909. The hotel building and an adjacent Wright-designed bank were connected and restored by the nonprofit organization Wright on the Park (wrightonthepark.org), with work completed in 2011. The Historic Park Inn Hotel (historicparkinn.com) continues to welcome guests to Mason City today, where they will find an abundance of buildings of architectural significance.
The free event, which will stream live on Facebook at Noon Central time, will feature a video tour of the hotel’s distinctive spaces led by experts from Wright on the Park. The half-hour event will provide an overview of Wright’s designs for the two buildings, and how they have been restored and adapted for their current hotel use. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during Q&A time prior to the conclusion of the event. Live events typically draw up to 50 attendees. The event recordings remain available online and will draw over a thousand views over subsequent weeks.
Launched in April 2020 as an initiative highlighting Frank Lloyd Wright-designed public sites that were closed due to the pandemic, Wright Virtual Visits is now in its fifth year. The goal of the online events is to showcase Wright sites to new audiences and inspire them to consider visiting in person in the future. Wright Virtual Visits is a collaborative effort of all participating sites, jointly led by the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy and the Graycliff Conservancy (https://www.experiencegraycliff.org/) with production support provided by Forever Ready Productions (https://foreverreadyllc.com/).
